If you are into boot slides, experiment with ways to reduce the friction between you boots and the ice.
Electrical tape works pretty good but it has quite a few downsides. It’s time consuming and it doesn’t really stay on the skate for more than a session. Although, it does give a nice smooth slide.
There is a product that hockey skaters use to protect the toe end of their boots that hardens like a resin which could work as well…but beware of how it will affect your nice skates. Also, applying fiberglass to your whole skate would give it a nice shell to slide on (use an old pair to experiment this one!).
